Christmas card I drew for Royal Holloway (or Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, to be precise) probably from around 1992. This was one of two designs that were sold in the college shop. The South Quadrangle of the Founder’s Building contains a statue of the founder, Thomas Holloway, and his wife Jane. The building itself, completed in 1881, is one of the most spectacular university buildings in the world. The scrappy photo included here is not recent (the college has since done restoration work on and around the statue); it also doesn’t do the place justice, but I’ve dropped it in to show how Mr Holloway’s extended arm provides circumstantial evidence of snowballing even during the thaw.
