Book of Pages: 2000–2020

Although the first version of Book of Pages was written and illustrated almost a decade earlier, it was published in 2000. The book’s illustrations are black-and-white line art. To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of their publication, here is how the pages might have looked had they been in colour, thanks to Jiriki’s friend Claudia.

Notes:

This is the first page where there’s a number in the illustration, which will become a characteristic of the book. Of course these were all page-number hyperlinks, and it’s explicitly supporting the agenda of the book that numbers like this are scarce and hence noteworthy out here in the monastery. In fact, the page title is even included (“Flight”) to remove any doubt that the presence of a number in this setting is anything other than deliberate; the Abbot (or the illustrator) knows what he’s doing.
