Drawing for a pet shop in Milford-on-Sea, probaby 1990, but maybe earlier. This one went above the canned food section.
I did a whole bunch of signs featuring the gorilla that went up in the shop, as well as painting the lettering on the shop’s awning.
When John, the owner, put signs up in his shop window, he’d always deliberately include one mistake (typically, but not always, a misspelling). And, sure enough, people would come in to point out the error. He explained to me, “if people don’t come in here, I can’t sell them anything”.
Pen, pencil and watercolours on A3 paper or bigger; the final signs were (relatively expensive at the time) colour copies of the artwork.
